TOPIC: Slow website

Slow website 24 May 2011 13:09 #453

Evers since I joined this website I have noticed that it is slow in changing pages.
I compared to my Sqd site and there are something to it.
Am I alone in observing this?

What pages seem to be slower, just the forums?
I have turned on browser caching which will speed up loading of already visited pages by 20-33%, generally pageloading speeds seem to be in line with other Joomla websites.

EDIT:
After doing a little research I have found settings that speed up loading of pages throughout the website, you should notice pages loading much faster now.

Hi Gamekeeper, I must also report pages loading terribly slow here on Opera and Win 7. Downloads are nice and quick but switching between pages is very slow. 3-4 times longer than most other webpages take to load.
The site is faster than it was months ago, yet is still very slow, switching from homepage to downloads, then to the category.
You say you have sped things up so maybe it's a problem on my end of sorts?

I did notice a slow down last night, but at the moment the site is running normally.

We have a lot of content on certain pages that draw on resources. The index page calls on the downloads section and forums for latest additions and has additional graphics to download. Once these are cached you will move more quickly between pages. I find speed in the downloads section quite fast.
How quickly the site load will depend on your bandwidth.

Since you posted it became apparent that tour server was not able to manage the load placed on it by our websites. M4T shares the same server as this site and has experienced a surge in traffic since the 4.11 patch. This has probably affected this website to some degree. To counter this we have just upgraded our server to one better able to cope with larger numbers of visitors online at once. I hope you notice the difference 8)

I can indeed confirm a tenfold decrease in page loading times, nice job.

Thank you for your report ZBW, the upgrade went well for this site but took M4T offline for a few days, it is now back up and also benefiting from the new processor.
