Nice idea Mike. It needs a bit more work I think though. The ice is too shiny, and I've never seen ice with ripples/waves either ;)
Maybe a Gaussian blur over the ice area will do some good. On the other hand, should there not be snow on the ice when there is on the land? Getting rid of the reflections and whiting the ice out and then apply soft-shadow from the plane might work even better.
