Cant make QMT work with `46!?

Postby Flying H on Mon Jan 15, 2007 8:02 pm

I´m trying to make QMT find the `46 root but it seems to be stuck to an older install of FB+EAP+PF although I used the manual path directing tool. QMT still tries to open a path that doesn´t exist any more. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but NO GO. I´ve tried to find some ini file to manually override the persistent path but can´t find any so now I´m out of options!
Can anyone help? Please!

Did you install 1946 into a different location? QMT is not updated to show the changes in PE-2 and 1946 versions of IL2. You will not see the new planes or maps from PE-2/1946 in QMT.

I did a fresh install of `46 .....

Postby Flying H on Tue Jan 16, 2007 9:54 pm

in another location, on the same drive as FB+ but after a rebuild of my pc so the drive is renamed from J:\ to E:\. The line at the bottom of the proggie still says J:\Forgotten Battles\Missions\Campaign\DE\FW190Barbarossa\
In the QMT preference screen it shows NO "installed versions override" but current installed gamepath is "E:\Forgotten Battles 1946" manually set up. Do I need to have a specifig .exe in the folder?
I have an IL2.exe 11k and an IL2FB.exe 4442k should there be some other .exe for QMT to recognice?
SHHHHH (The IL2FB.exe is a "no cd" job! :?: :?

I see. QMT uses two path locations, the first one points to the install of IL2 for the paint and pilot skins. Accessed from the menu Tools\QMT Preferences Current Installed Game Path. The second path is for the missions to edit. Accessed by clicking on the "Directory" button on the bottom left main screen of QMT.

"J:\Forgotten Battles\Missions\Campaign\DE\FW190Barbarossa" is where QMT is looking for missions, use the "Directory" button to point to where your 1946 missions are located.

If you set both path locations you should be okay.

Tried to edit the Skin Manager location but got a "Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range"-message, I´m out in the "binary universe" here!?

This doesn't surprise me at all, QMT was never updated to work with PE-2 and 1946 IL2 add-ons. I'm thinking about an update for IL2 - 1946, but hadn't decided yet.

Then I have to conclude QMT is by no means compatible with ´46!?
Sad but if you decide to upgrade I would DL as soon as I could!
To be honest I don´t think I would be the only one to appreciate your work if you would decide to upgrade your proggie!
THX anyway for your assistance.

QMT can be used to edit some mission parameters in 1946, but as you found out not all function may work. QMT is depended on data text files in the install directory. They contain the aircraft, weapons, maps and squadron infomation that drives QMT. Anyone can update those files to make QMT compatable with 1946.

If I update QMT the program, it would only work with 1946 IL2 and no other versions of IL2.

Well I´ll just sit tight and wait for someone to do the data hacking as I am very good on messing things up!
I guess ,among our many dedicated friends someone will show up with updates and fixes for those files!
We can see, from time to time new simmers adding more and more to enhance things, ie Enjoyr this last week over at SimHQ!

It is must likely the game paths. QMT need to look in specific areas to gather information. Try this Mission Tuner and see if this works for you.
