Hi all, and thanks Shift-E for this great program which I´m a fan since its first release.

Somewhere I lost track of it cause I didn´t update Überdemon´s UQMB for quite sometime, then recently while updating it, I found QMT was better than ever before.

I just love it, thanks a lot.

I´d like to make 1 sugestion though:
QMT displays the squadrons text code rather than their relative squadron name, which makes it a bit difficult to sort them out, specialy de IJA/IJN squadrons. That probably mean one more "comma field" in the squadrons file, but would improve greatly QMT´s usage.

Hope ou find it usefull too.
Anyway keep up your good work.

Regards.

Welcome JoaoMuas.

I need to make a couple of updates to QMT, so I'll see what i can do. This only seems to be the case with Pacific Fighters. Maybe, I can add omit text?

What do you think?

Yes, I guess the really problem is with PF squadrons, anyway all of the IL-2 FB+AEP+PF squadrons coud benefict of such better squadron description.

For example:

Instead of USN_VF_1A, it would appear VF-1 "High Hatters" Yorktown CV-10 (Fighter Squadron), on the squad selection screen.

Of course there might be other solutions, for example, a "on mouse over" window displaying the squadron description should work fine too.

One think I like very much in the later QMT versions is the data file being "open" to the user, which makes it even more user friendly, and one can easily update to the newest aircraft, squads, etc.

In this particular squadron description issue, one could even add something like year and location, for ex, VMF-214 "Black Sheep" Solomons, 1944 (Marine Fighter Squadron).

As for the IJA/IJN squadrons things get a bit rough, as I cannot tell a fighter squadron from a bombing squadron, even by the ingame description. I think sentai means squadron, but I must do some jap dictionary search to understand what the available squads are. Ok, I know, this is more an ingame issue than it is related with QMT, but I would consider it for your next upgrade.

Cheers.

I really like the idea of a user displayed squadron field in the data files. This would be so very easy for me it add. I'm updating QMT right now and I'll add code that if a user data field exist, I'll add the info to the tooltip (mouse over) of the squadron. The only limitation is no "," (commas) can be used in that field.

What do you think about that idea?

Sounds very good to me. The "no comma limitation" in the field shouldn´t really be an issue; you just be sure to point that to the user and it will be ok.

I can send you some info on USN squadrons, if you want. I did a some research about the carriers from which they all operate.

Good luck to your work.

Excellent. I finished making the changes to QMT and whatever is entered into the last field of the QMT_Squadron.txt file will be displayed by the mouse over.

If you have Excel I can send you the master file to make the changes or you can make the changes in your QMT_Squadron.txt and send it to me and I'll update the master file.

Let me know, your idea is a very good one thank you.

I´ll send to you the QMT_Squadron.txt file with all the info I can get during this weekend. That would be regarding USN/USMC squadrons.

Maybe someone else can provide you info on other squadrons, specially de IJA/IJN. Anyway, just some examples should do, then anyone can add their own remarks on their favourit squads.

I´m glad it wasn´t too much trouble.

I´ll keep in touch then. Cheers.

Roger that. That's why I have the data files, it makes changes like this a piece of cake. :-)

I'll add some remarks in the help file about updating the userdata field in the squadron file.

Thanks again for a great suggestion.

I finished updating the web site with the new version if you'd like to try it out this weekend.

In the QMT_squadron.txt add ",What ever text" at the end of the squadron line without the quotes. It does need the comma as that is the delimiter.

Hi Shift-E.

I sent the updated QMT_Squadrons.txt last night, but I recieved a "delayed delievery status".

You just tell me if you don´t get it, okay?

New QMT version works a treat.

Thanks.
