Some keys not working

Postby Ol' Roy on Thu Mar 23, 2006 7:17 pm

Hi All,
I'm new to this forum and have been using VAC for about a month. No problems up to today, but now I have a problem and need help.

I'm using VAC for Falcon4AF which requires quite a number of combination keys.

Using the VACBuilder 1.8.3 and KeyBoard tester.
In the Command list:
Qualifier Key: SHIFT (or CTRL)
Extended keys: L-ALT (or R-ALT)
Character Key: (any number or alpha char)

When triggered, the SHIFT and the ALT keys light properly but I get nothing for the Character Key, no matter what it is.

I also need some way to distinguish between keyboard numbers and the keypad numbers in the Character Key box. :D

Many thanks for any help.

Hi Roy,

I'll have a look at the keyboard tester and see what's up.

The numeric keypad keys are consider extended key and are available in the Extended keys drop-down box.

I hope this helps,

Thanks Shift_E,

I realize that it would take additional programming, but Falcon 4.0 Allied force uses the numpad for about 20 commands that require Qualifier and Extended (Shift + Ctrl). These commands cannot be accessed at this time by VAC. So perhaps in an upgrade?

I'll wait your reply.

Hi Roy,

VAC can handle the key combinations you are talking about see this thread: http://www.airwarfare.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=900. In fact you should try SkyDancer's profile for Falcon 4. He's the man on this as I don't have Falcon 4.

When I created VAC I knew some games would take many key combinations and I tried to develop VAC so it could fit a wide selection of games without having to add programming.

I hope this helps,

OK -- I'm in. It works and I'm happy.
Thanks for the help.
