VAC Setup Problem

Postby clubracer911 on Tue Nov 21, 2006 5:52 am

Well I have installed the VAC program and loaded Dastardly's PF English profile and everything seems to be reading correctly in the status bar. The mic is on the"p" is shown and the 0 is lit up and everything should be in order, however when I start the Game it is not recieving my voice commands.

Any ideas guys to what might be going on and what I might need to check on either program ?

Hi,

The first to check is the microphone volume, then the training by http://www.dwvac.com/vactips.htm. If you have done this, then disregard and we'll move on.

If there are PTD or PTA keys assigned in the profile disabled them for now.

Try running VAC with your profile again, but this time open Notepad and keep it the active window while speaking phrases from the profile. You should see the key commands sent to Notepad of the recognized phrases.

If the Notepad works, then the key mappings in the profile and your game may be different, you may have to check the readme file to check the differences.

I hope this will get you started if it doesn't, let me know.

VAC Setup Problems

Postby clubracer911 on Tue Nov 21, 2006 5:33 pm

Shift-E..... I will try a few of the suggestions that you mentioned and see if that takes car fo the problem.

One question I had was since I loaded Dastardly's profile for IL-2 FB -PF and I have just the PF stand alone program loaded would that be creating any kind of problem ?

I was able to check VAC once I loaded the user profile by hitting the Taste phrase button and going through some of the Commands in the user profile and everything seem to work great there but as soon as I went into game play and started flying nothing worked :x

I also wanted to know if it was necessary to move any VAC files or folders into the PF game folders and if so what is the process and what should be moved ? I really appreciate your help and look forward to using your program. Thanks

Hi Kyle,

I'm happy to help. You don't have to move any VAC files or profiles at all. It's sounds like you have VAC installed and the profile imported correctly and since you tested a couple of phrases the speech engine is also installed correctly.

My guess is the key mappings may be different, try the profile for Pacific Fighters created by Jdogrulz http://www.dwvac.com/profiles.htm.

Be sure to try the tips out at http://www.dwvac.com/vactips.htm, 10 minutes there will really be worth it.

If all else fails we can go on voice using TeamSpeak, Ventrilo or MSN Messenger and I can walk you through the rough areas.

I fly falconF4Af and have used VAC a lot since there are massive key strokes to operate the sim. I had a problem simular to yours on the volume control. I would set up commands in the Builder and verify their operation but when I got into the sim, nothing worked. I brought up the sound mixer by double clicking the speater on the task bar. I found the microphone volume control in the off position. Raising the control cured my problem. However, I found the volume control can be either up or down after a session in the Builder so now I check it each time before entering the sim program.

VAC Setup

Postby clubracer911 on Tue Nov 21, 2006 10:04 pm

Well Guys I might be making a little progress.I went in an adjusted my Volume and mic controls and even went back through speach recognition training and I was off again to PF to try it again. This time I was able to make a few commands. The plane responded to my bank right CM and then it also responded to my Drop Tanks CM. I was also able to get it to increase and decrease engine power. Now all of this was accomplished by using Dastardly's Profile although I did get Jdogrulz profile as well. I can see I am amking a little progress but I still have a way to go. I know this is probably wearing you guys down but being a first time Flight Sim guy and a first time user of this type of software I am a little out of my element. Thanks for all the help......
