Comms Only Profile

Postby WWSensei on Tue Feb 22, 2005 3:44 am

Didn't use Dastardly's profile because his key mappings were so different than mine it wasn't useful for me. I didn't really want all the commands voice activated I just wanted to map the comms menu.

So, I made a profile of just the various Comms to speak to your wingman or to the ground controller or the various flights. Since those commands are the same for everyone (one exception, I assume you use Tab to activate the menu) it doesn't require a settings file. It's limited to only radio commands.

So, you can say things like "Flight One, Attack Tanks" etc... similar to other profiles.

If nothing else you can use as a starting place...

If there is interest I'll post it up...

If you want you can email it to me and I'll post it on the VAC web site. DD's profile is great for all commands and the more flavors we have the better. :-)

LOL!! DD's profile is over the top! I never knew you could do so many things in FB/PF.
I used his as a base and then built upon it for my own needs.
But one thing that I have yet to figure out is when I say "open chat window" upon opening the letter "t" will already be typed in ??? ("t" being the key assigned for the command)

Is there anyway that this can be prevented? or would I have to remove that command from VAC, and use the chat window as a normal key stroke?

I'm not sure why it's placing a "t" in the chat window without seeing your profile. It could be the duration is set to high and triggering a key repeat maybe. I'm only guessing, I did set an Action to open a chat window to test it, but it worked as expected.

Ok looking at my profile "t" is the key that opens the chat window.
duration 5
Pause 5
repeat 1

Which one needs to be changed in order for it not to insert the "t" upon opening the chat window?

Send me your profile and I'll look at it. From what information you have given me, it should work without entering a "t".

VAC Radio profile

Postby WWSensei on Sun Mar 06, 2005 2:22 pm

I use VAC in offline mode for doing Radio Commands. Adds a bit of immersion for me to say something like "wingman, attack tanks" and have it execute all the Tab commands. Also lets you talk to the tower by saying things like "Tower, request takeoff" or "Tower, request landing clearance".

I try using common variants of the various commands as well. Anyhow, here is a zip file with the profile and two short wav files I made to tell me when the system is on or off.

It makes the following assumptions:

1) "Tab" is your communication command key for giving orders.
2) Scrolllock is the deactivate key because that happens to be my Teamspeak activate key so I can deconflict voice comms with TS. Change it accordingly.
3) It only address Radio communications and not other functionality.

I've been using the comms only profile for a little while now.

It's great.

I've customised it a little by adding a success sound for each command. I've used the roger.wav and copy_that.wav in the US Actor6 speech folder mainly and it's working great. I get a little feedback as to when a command was successful and it's in keeping with the game.

Thanks WWSensei for the original profile and thanks Shift_E for an excellent application.
