Plans for directX access?

Postby booker on Sat Apr 09, 2005 6:32 pm

Hi . New VAC user here and am impressed with VAC so far. I was able to easily create an entire profile for Silent Hunter using the tidy inteface; a task that would have been much more work in the alternate program I use.

One question before I fork over my $10 though. Are there any plans for accessing DirectX buttons? I assign a button on a MOMO Force steering wheel (In GTR, GPL and NR2003) to toggle off/on the listening function of the alternate program so that the game doesn't have a chance to misinterpret various grunts, curses and cries of frustration as I race around the track. I can see no way of doing this in VAC. Is this something you're looking at?

Thanks

Thank you for your kind words. DirectX is something that is on my list for VAC, but to be honest I couldn’t tell you when I’ll be getting to it.

Right now I’m adding support for launching programs and finishing up the fixes on PTA and PTD keys.

I’ve been thinking of getting SH III is it worth it?

Thanks for the quick reply. Good to hear that the directX access is on your horizon and I won't annoy you with the "when" question :)

As for SHIII I wrote a long winded reply here yesterday that for some reason never got posted (might have hit the preview rather than post button.) Since I'm too lazy to rewrite it I'll simply say that, if submarine similations interest you at all, then you will not regret spending the money on this one. Apart from the simulation aspects of it it is also a pretty entertaining game. Two destroyers appearing out of a north sea fog bank gives a whole new urgency to the expression " crash dive" and deep water becomes far more interesting than you may have previously imagined :)

If you want to assign PTA key in VAC to your joystick button you can do that if your joystick allows you to map the button to a keyboard key. I have an X45 and use a fire button as my PTD key in VAC. I just assigned the middle mouse button to the fire button and used the middle mouse button in VAC for the PTD key.

Also if you are getting grunts and moans recognized as commands you can adjust in VAC. Look at http://home.comcast.net/~vacsupport/setup.htm and adjust the pronunciation slider toward the high setting. I'm also using my own method of recognition, which I believe really cuts down on false positives.

As far when I start on DirectX, it’s the next item on my list after version 1.5.5. :)

Thanks on your views of SHIII, I think I'll go purchase the game.
