New User with issues

Postby Redeye on Sun Jul 03, 2005 10:20 pm

Hi folks,

I'm a long time user of Shoot but I thougt I'd try out VAC so here I am.

Shoot was giving me troubles in Il2 after upgrading to SP2 for windows XP another reason for trying out VAC.

I am very pleased with VAC because Il2 runs much smoother with VAC than with Shoot. However I got one issue and that is the slow response to any given command both in game and in the VAC Builder. I searched this forum to see if there was anything related to my prob but I found nothing.

So here is hoping someone can help me out.

Hi Redeye,

There is two things I believe can help you out. The first is to use a trained profile for the Speech Recognition engine and to frag the drive the profile is on. The second thing is the SR engine uses the sound card as does the game. Here are some things I had done with my sound card settings in IL2, I turned off the in game voice and music. I also set the hardware sound aceleration to basic in the DirectX setup. The last thing I had done was to get PCI Latency Tool 2.3 to lower the graphics card setting to around 64 from 256 which gave my system better performance overall.

You should be getting very fast response times with VAC.

I hope this helps,

Thanks for the reply E-Shift,

I'll try some out but the obvious one of training the speech engine is already done, although I periodically go trough it again.

Soundcard acceleration is already set to standard because of other sound related problems for which FB/AEP/PF is already notorious. I'm assuming basic is one step lower then that so I'll try it.

One question remains though:

turned off the in game voice

With this do you mean the voice command options in the game or wingman speech in the game?

Thanks,

Hi Redeye,

Yes, the voice command option is what I meant. I have the wingman speech turned off too, but that's my perference. There is also a process priority setting on the VAC System it deault to high priority, however turning it down for certain games will help. I have to setting the priority to normal to play Counter-Stike for some reason VAC will not work set to high in CS for me.

Well I think by now I got a bigger problem. Shoot yields the same problems as VAC. It works at first (tested it with the builder) but after a few correct responses it just doesn't respond any more or late or incorrectly.

I just upgraded to SP2 for windows XP pro so I'm starting to wonder if there's the problem.

Any help apprectiated
