Help with WOV profile please

Postby Mowgali on Mon Aug 29, 2005 10:00 pm

I've just tried setting up a simple profile for use with WOV. It couldn't be easier. First I say radio or a similar context type command, like "Towe" rto bring up the relevant comm's menu, it is then simply a question of saying the relevant number for what I want it to do i.e 1- What are winds at ground level, it couldn't be easier, HOWEVER.
If I say "three" or "exit" I get no menu response in the game. Pressing" 3" or "0 " on the keyboard and the correct command works. In the profile builder I've tested the phrases and they are recognized perfectly, I have also checked with the keyboard tester and the correct keys light up when pressed.
So at the moment, I'm stumped, and because they are radio commands I can't just change them in the game keyboard profile for other keys that work. Any help would be appreciated cheers.

p.s all the other numbers work flawlessly.

Hi,

It could be a couple of things. I don't have WOV, so forgive me if I say something stupid. :) For all number command phrases below 12, you should spell them out for the action phrase. Say for example option 3 is "Request landing.", use "option three" or "three" or even "Request landing" as the action phrase. You can use all the phrases if you want. VAC will stumble on using "3" rather than "three" as the action phrase. One more thing to do is assign a sound to the action so you'll know if the command was recongized in the game. If it was reconized, then the problem would be the command sent.

Let me know if I'm way off track, sometimes I can be pretty dense.

Thanks for quick reply. Yes I do use "Three" as the activation phrase instead of "3". As for the"0" I have tried useing "zero","nought" and "exit" as the activation phrase, all are recognized when I test the phrase, exept "zero" which it occasionally misinterprets, so I use exit, ( not a problem). Yes I have allocated a noise for a good command function and it works fine when testing in the builder. Other than this problem the program is a pleasure to use, a vast improvement over Game Commander that I'd used before, in fact that program had put me off buying this one for some time.

p.s the other number commands work fine "two", "four" etc and I'm useing the latest incarnation 1.70

Hi,

Good work in assigning sounds to the actions, it really helps when creating a new profile. :smt023

When you are in the game and with the menu up, you say "Three", nothing happens? Do you get the recogintion success sound? If the other commands, like two and four, then it sounds like it the command being sent. If you only need to send "3", check that there is no Qualifier or Extended keys set, should read as "NONE".

If this doesn't help, I'd be happy to look at your profile, I could test it out in Notepad. It sounds like we are missing something simple. :)

Let me know,

Shift-E, I'll admit I sprogged it a little, I was mucking around with setting up some new profiles last night, keeping it as simple as possiable, maybe just one or two lines, and "exit" does push the "0" key ect. My main fluf was using the "F" keys or in my case, not, sorry should say not reading the guide,. That said now that I've corrected my error, I,m still getting some random errors, with keys working correctly in the builder, and in one profile i.e 1a, but then the same phrase is not being picked up in another similar profile i.e 1b, however before I bother you further I will try and work it out to see if I,m doing something wrong and let you Know how I get on :D
