Notepad Text Reports

Postby mag_maverick on Wed Feb 01, 2006 8:23 pm

Would it be possible to add an extra option to "Send Activation Phrases to Notepad" . The option would be to create a text file w/o labels, one "Action Description" per line, and a delimiter between each item on each line. This would provide an option which could be easily imported into a spreadsheet. Below is a text file excerpt example that I reformated from the original Notepad text file

Autopilot on,CTRL, NONE, a,Autopilot on,
Autopilot off,CTRL, NONE, a,Autopilot on,
Bail out,CTRL, NONE, e,Bail out,
Break,NONE, NONE, a,Break,
Close canopy, NONE, NONE, o, Close canopy ,

It took some work to get the file into the above format. Using the above format I can import into a spreadsheet. Which I can slice, dice, sort, format, print, etc.

I have found that it is easier to manage voice/game commands when I can put those commands with related information on a spreadsheet. Especially when the command list gets lengthy. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to add the option or how usesful to most VAC users. It might address some of the report question/requests from VAC users. VAC can provide the information and the user can create their own reports.

BTW...After trying out VAC with IL2-FB+AEP+PF, everything works great. I really like the program...compact and easy use. I just purchasesd a registered copy. Next compete my BoB2-WOV profile and try it out

Thanks,

Notepad Text Reports

Postby mag_maverick on Thu Feb 09, 2006 3:10 am

Hi Shif_E,

Thanks for adding this new report.

I think I've see an omission in the text file setup. Believe a deliminter (comma in the new report format) should be placed at the end of the each Command List item.

Example from my profile:

Current Format

Autopilot on,Autopilot on,Flight,Cmd 1: CTRL - NONE - a
Autopilot off,Autopilot on,Flight,Cmd 1: CTRL - NONE - a

Revision Format?

Autopilot on,Autopilot on,Flight,Cmd 1: CTRL - NONE - a,
Autopilot off,Autopilot on,Flight,Cmd 1: CTRL - NONE - a,

The current report format would not break a new colum for import into a spreadsheet.

It also incorrectly formats if more than one action phrase is used.

Example from my profile:

Display aircraft labels,View aircraft labels,Misc,Cmd 1: NONE - NONE - tDisplay aircraft labels,Display aircraft lablels,Misc,Cmd 1: NONE - NONE - t

No delimiter (comma) is beween first "Cmd 1: NONE - NONE - t" and "Display aircraft labels".

I'm I wrong here?

Thanks again...MM

Hi MM,

You are correct, my mistake on the format. And places the comma at the end will be easier. :D

I hoping for the update by the weekend.
