This book should have pushed all the right buttons for me. It is the story of one of the top Spitfire aces who served in the Battle of Britain through Malta and on to Italy and France. However his narrative style does not reach where Geoffrey Wellum or Pierre Clostermann did and so the book slips into that middle order of generic RAF biographies from this period. Maybe I am a little harsh but it struck me as a little sterile and did not grip me like others I have read.
A decent read but not outstanding.
