Can't get skins to change automatically in campaign.

In IL2 i'm trying to put together a campaign using different skins as the pilot progresses in his carrer. I understand that if you choose single missions that even though you chose a certain skin in the full mission builder for the players plane it will always default to your last chosen skin.

I thought that when you created a campaign that the skin would change from mission to mission (on the players plane) depending on what you put in the "full mission builder" but it doesn't for me. Why bother to choose a skin in the FMB if it will never carries over to the missions or campaign?

Is there anyway to have the correct skin show up automatically or do you have to tell the player to change to certain skin for every mission of the campaign? Is the ability to choose a certain skin in the FMB just a waste of time? What is it good for?
