Heroes of the Pacific is the fantastic new flyer on PS2, Xbox and PC DVD.

Beginning with the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbour, the epic story unfolds through 26 missions taken from real events of the U.S. Navy's campaign in the Pacific. Battles take place in hotspots such as Midway Island, Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal.

Featuring 35 authentic military aircraft, plus more to unlock, prepare to pilot an incredible line-up of US and Japanese planes, including the Grumman F4F Hellcat and F6F Wildcat, the Douglas SBD Dauntless, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk and the Chance-Vought F4U Corsair.

Players will also be able to switch between the pilot’s and gunner’s seats and experience first-hand what it’s like when it’s just you and your plane against a relentless enemy that just won’t accept defeat.

Heroes of the Pacific™ features airborne battles with up to an awesome 150 planes in the sky at one time. This is the first time a flight combat game has featured skies so filled with aircraft, AA fire, smoke and pieces of blown-apart airplane. This is war, gentlemen, and it’s going to feel like all hell has been let loose in the skies!

This looks very cool!!! Refreshingly different graphics - realistic with a (slight, very slight) twist of cartoon.

Oh but the muzzle flashes..... dé·jà vu don't you think chaps.

Can someone please buy this and tell me if I should spend my money on it

Cheers, CS. :)

From Codemasters 02/06/2005

Heroes Of the Pacific Flight Briefing- New video released.

Today we’re releasing the first video of Heroes- showing some in-game replay action from the game’s first mission. Here, the player does his best to minimise damage during the attack on Pearl Harbour. This first mission is quite an introduction to the game, as you’ll need to vary your tactics and flying to deal with fighters, dive bombers, and torpedo bombers as your airfield and “battleship row” come under attack.

Those in the know will recognise the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, and those that aren’t- well, now you know. That’s just one of over 35 flyable planes in the game. The full list will be revealed in later newsletters, so keep an eye out.

We’re also releasing today a selection of 10 new screenshots, showing off some of the other planes in all their beauty. Get them from the Heroes of the Pacific downloads section, here.

The game’s coming together really nicely- at the moment there are some gameplay teaks being implemented to make the game a touch more accessible. Making sure the player’s properly kept up to date with mission objectives, that sort of thing.

Well, that’s the news for this time. Keep your eyes out for future updates- next time we should be able to tell you more about some of the missions you’ll be flying.

Remember- careless talk costs lives! so head over to the Codemasters Heroes Of The Pacific forum to chat about the game away from the flapping ears of the Enemy.

Get your wings in Heroes of the Pacific™ - fly online now for the trailer movie

Prepare for full-on aerial combat in the most incredible battles from the Pacific Theatre of World War II in Heroes of the Pacific™, coming this September for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC.

Climb into the cockpit and experience the flight of your life in the trailer movie, now available from here and you’ll see Heroes of the Pacific takes no prisoners.

As an aspiring ace fighter pilot, the first mission throws you straight into the situation that resulted in the US joining World War II. It’s 1941 and a 200-strong Japanese naval strike force is heading towards Hawaii with one target in mind: Pearl Harbor.

Take to the skies in your Hellcat fighter plane and defend the US fleet and blast the enemy out of the skies! This epic opening clash sets in motion a series of great battles that range across the Pacific, including Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Midway, Leyte Gulf and the Coral Sea.

Throughout the game’s main campaign, the action comes fast and furious as you experience the immense scope of these ferocious conflicts with hundreds of planes on screen in a single confrontation!

You’ll fly your Hellcat against the Imperial Japanese Navy’s new Zero fighters, attack Japanese bases on occupied Guadalcanal, and protect Wake Island from relentless bombing raids. You’ll even get to dive-bomb the Japanese carriers and ships that attacked Pearl Harbor and track down the people who planned and executed the surprise attack.

With over 35 of the greatest US and Japanese aircraft from WWII engaged in intense dog fighting throughout, Heroes of the Pacific is your chance to be a hero and make history. Prepare for take off with the trailer movie, now available online
